Home again, a long day in Barnsley but so worthwhile. Louise is glowing, aside from having lost 10lbs with little or no exercise apart from walking (remember, one of the 10 Principles is that ‘Exercise is essential’).
With all this travelling around, I am reminded yet again that its not always easy to eat the way I would want to without some planning ahead. The food on the trains isn’t great, at least from the snack carts. I prefer driving, sorry about all those pesky CO2 emissions but at least the service stations have food stores where you can get something decent to eat. The same is true for train stations, on the whole, but this is only the case for the larger city ones who often have a Simply Food store.. Smaller stations are limited to average coffee shops and newsagents.
I had some food with me yesterday, a couple of bags of Food Doctor Soya Nuts and a few apples (but the crew ate the food from the trolley on the train so they ended up with chocolate and crisps); not great for energy levels as they are converted from food to glucose quite rapidly which addresses the short term hunger but after an hour and a half, they were flagging again.
So its not all about weight you see. Louise is losing weight by eating in The Food Doctor way, but her energy levels are on the up, her skin is clear and she has a confident and positive attitude. Once the weight has gone, then its those other benefits that Louise will come to value even more, and it’s a pleasure to see a 25 year old woman really understanding and experiencing an improved level of health.
Do PLEASE get involved, if you have comments or anything to add to this blogs, I love seeing them!
More soon.

Love the diet! I have lost 9lb in 14 days and that with no exercise (except the walking I do to the bus stop and around uni twice a week) as I have ME and have just recovered from a relapse so any Cardio exercise is out of the question. For the first in ages I feel like the ‘brain fog’ has gone – I can concentrate at last for longer than 10 minutes, I have more energy and just feel so much better.
Thank you so much I feel I am finally getting my life back.
I too love the food doctor approach to healthy eating & am following the 30 day plan in the Ultimate Food Doctor book. I leave home at 6.30am every morning & don’t get home until 7.30pm most nights & in addition often have to eat out with clients so this approach is much better for me than a normal “diet”.
My weightloss is 8lb in 4 weeks so not the highest but given I’m adjusting to eating out in client situations & have only got to the gym once a week, I’m pleased…. especially as I’ve dropped inches too!
I do feel much more alert & energetic during the day but I have noticed that I feel incredibly tired in the evening & am currently finding it harder to get up in the mornings than usual. It would be good to know if anyone has experienced the same & knows how to fix it.!
I started the diet at the begining of Dec and have lost just over a stone in weight. I went through a period of feeling very tired at night and fell asleep most evenings, also I was very tired in mornings. At some point over the last few weeks this has improved, could be because I have a small snack of nuts or somthing in the evening now. Could just be the time of year!!
Hi Steph, don’t worry, it is normal to feel tired, lethargic, moody, and have headaches in the first week or so of this diet whilst your body adjusts to eating differently. They do pass fairly quickly though, so hang in there. I never had any headaches until 2 days ago, and i was very tired for a couple of days.
That initial hurdle over, my skin is starting to have a very nice glow to it, and the other symptoms are lessening.
All you can do for this adjustment period is make sure you are drinking plenty of water and go to bed earlier, which will make sure that your symptoms are not due to not getting enough sleep or dehydration.
According to The Food Doctor Diet Club book, the more difficult you find the first week or so, the more your diet needed attention.
Hope ive been of some use! X
